Although the couple's strong connection is well-known, Kohli recently revealed on AB de Villiers' YouTube show how their love story began.
During the show, the ex-RCB captain recounted how they initially conversed on various topics and gradually developed a close bond, which eventually transformed into a beautiful relationship.
According to Kohli, his manager informed him during their tour of Zimbabwe about a commercial opportunity that he would be a part of. The commercial involved shooting with Anushka Sharma, who was already an established and popular actress in India.
Kohli admits that upon hearing the news, he became nervous and started to shiver, as he was intimidated by the prospect of working alongside a seasoned professional.
In addition, he recounted how he traveled to Mumbai for the shoot after the tour ended, and was extremely anxious about meeting Anushka. He was unsure of what to say or how to approach her. Kohli was so nervous that he didn't even notice how tall she was until later, as she was wearing five-inch sandals.
Virat wrapped up by revealing that his first comment to Anushka was a joke about her high heels, to which she responded defensively. He felt embarrassed by his remark but then went on to realize that she was just a regular person like him.
As they conversed further, they discovered that they had similar backgrounds and connected over shared experiences common to middle-class households. This led to the development of a close friendship, which eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship over time.
After dating for an extended period, the couple exchanged wedding vows on December 11, 2017. They welcomed their daughter, whom they named Vamika, on January 11, 2021.
